Drones - Traffic Cams - Electronic Bug Sweeps - George Orwell's 1984

Drones, Traffic Cameras for license plates, and yes Bugs or Electronic Eavesdropping Devices:  1984?

Eavesdropping has become more and more common in this new world of high-tech surveillance whether it be the government, your employer, a spouse or ex-spouse. Per the front page article of the USA Today (8/22/13) 56, 000 emails of Americans were intercepted and monitored by the NSA that had nothing to do with terrorism this past year which has led to the huge NSA scandal that has unfolded before our eyes. Unmanned drones have been a hot topic lately in the news media and just to dis-spell any rumors or false notions: " Not all drones are *Predator Drones that carry heat seeking missiles." Many, and most  (of these surveillance type drones) are smaller and may even resemble more like a remote control helicopter or airplane. This is a very grey area legally right now in our country and it is important to know the laws in your state or region in the event that you yourself are using these types of surveillance measures. This is such a new area that many attorneys and legal professionals are not even aware of what is legal or not when it comes to the use of unmanned drones for surveillance.

Undercover cameras, video and audio equipment and it's technology has become microscopic and wireless. In addition, the cost for this type of equipment has come down and is much more accessible to those who have a need. GPS tracking devices, computer monitoring and key logger software can be installed and your privacy rights may have been violated or are being violated as I type up this post. I guarantee your vehicle has been spotted in California if you have driven thru Los Angeles County recently as there is a camera at almost every intersection. Well, that is a bit of an exaggeration, but not by much!

If you believe you have been wire tapped illegally or you are being recorded without your knowledge and/or consent and want the peace of mind of knowing that your living space is free an clear of such devices, call us today for a free estimate to sweep your home, business and/or vehicles. All calls and emails are confidential and we can give you that peace of mind you are looking for.  For more information on TSCM (Technical Surveillance Counter Measures) you can also visit PI.Now at the link below to read more about  this and how we can help you and determine whether or not you are being monitored electronically. Got Email Encryption?

Got Email Encryption Software? Got The RightPI?

In this day of government and corporate "data breaches" people and companies are learning more and more why they need to get educated on data and information security. Companies like Symantec and web based email solution companies like Enigmail, TrueCrypt and HushMail are the new rage. With the emergence of the Cloud in the digital age and corporations (including governments globally) moving more and more data into secure servers and relying less and less on paper records, these types of companies are now growing exponentially overnight.

If when you hear words like cryptographic hash, compliance based reporting, and post-prism world and it sounds like someone is speaking Greek to you (and you don't speak Greek obviously), then you may want to visit Symantec's site below and watch a few videos on Email & Drive Encryption to brush up on this. More and more companies and organizations are taking their data security seriously and it is about time. We are not a re-seller for Symantec and their products, but they are one of the best data security providers on the market and this company is just one example of how you can protect yourself and your clients from unwarranted security breaches. Watch the video on their site and learn how.

Penny Background Checks - Consumer Beware

It is becoming more and more common for the general public to "buy" into the idea that you can, "Be Your Own Online Investigator" and guess what, the public is "buying in" in large quantities. These companies offer "instant comprehensive background checks" for pennies (ok maybe a $ dollar or two). Many of these companies (that I won't name here) have capitalized on selling you old, inaccurate information online and marketed "background checks" and claim to have information on a particular phone number or email address when they really do not have valid current owner information.

It has been researched and documented by my colleagues and peers that many of these companies are foreign based and have a P.O. box listed for an address with contact numbers so old that you can not reach a live person. Sometime this old contact number that is as inaccurate as the outdated information you just purchased. As a licensed private investigator I am always trying to keep up on who has the most up to date and accurate or reliable information. I can tell you without reservation I do not use any of these irreputable companies.

The next time you are in need of reliable information on an individual or company and "before" you type in your credit card numbers and press enter feel free to send me a message either via email through Right Path Investigations at info@rightpi.com  If you are in serious need of Investigative Services you can always send a request for a " No Obligation Confidential Client Interview" by visiting us here: http://www.rightpi.com/index.php/request  I had to post this info: Just know I am trying to save you some future heart ache &($$$) .

In summary, you  probably have heard your mother or father at one point in your life say, "You get what you pay for." This rings true not only here but in many situations in life and it is good advice to heed. Call me or message me and I will be happy to tell you which of these companies to steer clear from over our confidential client interview. My best advice going forward is to for you to use Google for your internet research. If you still can't find the information you are looking for  and still need to know, ask yourself this...

A popular scam in the Sacramento (NorCal Area) is the latest SMUD late payment scam. "Not a new one by any means". In the P.I. world there are many ruses out there to gain information for investigative reasons. Scamming and victimizing is not the goal for P.I.s though as it it for criminals, identity theives and the like. Make sure you are up on these by checking out the FBI's list of common scams at: http://www.fbi.gov/scams-safety/e-scams  or you can check out other helpful public service websites such as: Bytecrime.org at http://www.bytecrime.org/  Fox News just reported on this happening in our region recently so be aware that it is happening out there right now. The number one way to protect yourself is do not give out information "over the telephone" without you (yourself) initiating the call. Always that the number you are calling or the website you  visiti is a legitimate and secure phone number and/or web address. It is always best if you initiate the call and contact.  Make sure to do so through the service provider's statement that you are mailed monthly or their main website. Here is the Fox News story that hit the press on this recently: http://fox40.com/2013/01/14/smud-warns-of-convincing-scammers/  Spread the word...

Don't be a victim, be aware and share this article and forum with a friend and/or family member.
